It Started With Pasalubong

USA Express didn't begin in a boardroom.

It began with overstuffed suitcases.

We're Ari and Claire Taube. Claire was born and raised in Romblon, Philippines, and Ari was born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts, USA. These days, we call Tagaytay home — but we still travel back and forth to America regularly.

Whenever we came home from the U.S., there was one thing we could count on:

Our luggage was never really ours. 😅

There were snacks for family, beauty products for friends, a few “Can you please bring me this?” requests, and usually at least one item we had absolutely no intention of buying until somebody messaged us from the Philippines while we were standing in Target.

In other words:
Pasalubong happened. A lot.

Then We Started Noticing Something

The requests kept coming.

  • “Can you find this in America?”
  • “Can you bring this back next time?”
  • “Is this one online actually authentic?”

And eventually we realized... maybe we were onto something.

There were plenty of people in the Philippines who wanted genuine American products, but buying them wasn't always simple.

  • Sometimes the product was hard to find.
  • Sometimes the price was ridiculous.
  • Sometimes the seller looked questionable.
  • And sometimes you just had no idea whether the “authentic USA item” actually had anything to do with the USA.

That's when the idea for USA Express started to take shape.

So We Turned Pasalubong Into a Business

We already travel between the United States and the Philippines.

We already love discovering interesting products.

We already bring things home for the people we care about.

So we thought:

Why not do the same thing for everyone else?

USA Express is our way of bringing authentic, interesting, hard-to-find American products to customers here in the Philippines — with a real person behind the sourcing and a real story behind the store.

We shop trusted U.S. retailers and brands and look for things we think are genuinely worth bringing home.

We like the hunt. That's part of the fun.

Trust Matters to Us

This part is important.

One of the reasons we wanted to build USA Express was because we saw so many American products being sold online with very little information about where they actually came from.

And we get it.

If you're buying something imported, you want to know:

  • Is this real?
  • Where did it come from?
  • Can I trust the seller?

We wanted USA Express to answer those questions simply by the way we operate.

We're real people. We live here.

We personally understand both sides of the USA → Philippines journey.

And we want to build a store where customers feel comfortable knowing that authenticity, sourcing, and trust actually matter to the people behind the business.

A Little Bit America. A Little Bit Philippines. Very Much Us.

USA Express is really a reflection of our own life together.

Claire grew up in the Philippines.

Ari grew up in the United States.

Now we live in the Philippines, travel between both countries, and somehow continue finding room in our luggage for “just one more thing.” 😅

So USA Express isn't really an American store sitting somewhere far away.

It's a Philippine business with one foot in America.

And the feeling we want to create is simple:

Like having a friend in the U.S. who spots something great and says, “You're going to love this. I'll bring one home for you.”

That's USA Express.
